Gallery Notes - Bryce Canyon, Utah
Bryce Canyon National Park in southern Utah seems to divide opinion; I considered it to be the most beautiful of the all the USA National Parks I have witnessed: a masterpiece of erosion. It is not a canyon as such, but an amphitheatre filled with the most delicate of slots, pinnacles, hoodoos, flutings and colours. Travel in these parts has to include staying over, enjoying dawn and dusk from the rim, and being able to walk down into the slots on the myriad trails. The ethereal atmosphere down in its depths is one of the great joys; there is a strange silence, a lack of birdsong particularly. How I pitied the thirty-minute tourists ...
During our short visit in the spring we enjoyed daytime temperatures of 20c and nighttime cold of -10c, which certainly tested the lightweight gear. For the camping afficionados amongst you, see if you can spot our old Vango Force Ten, one of the best tents ever made. Enjoy Bryce Canyon, Utah.
