Demotivation and Despair

With my love of photography and psychology, I’ve often found myself wondering about those motivational posters using inspiring scenes and a pseudo-quotation- you know the ones I mean.
I’m not unknown to use quotations myself, and I have considered whether there might be a market opportunity for me in there, so I can’t be too critical. But they are rubbish, aren’t they.
And then today a friend and business colleague told me about www.despair.com. Now these people are also exploiting a business opportunity, of course, but there is something much more wordly, funny and, ironically, motivating about their demotivator posters, ” … created … so you can skip the delusions that motivational products induce and head straight for the disappointments that follow!”
Humour and not a little unashamed insanity seem to go so much further. Didn’t we all love Marvin the Paranoid Android, after all? So if I ever overstep the line of sincerity with some of my more philosophical ramblings, please someone bat me about the head and bring me back to vertical ground, as these posters have done for me today.
Thank you.
